Day # 26 June 16 Astorga to Rabanal del Camino (22K)

Day# 26 June 16 Astorga to Rabanal del Camino ( 21.4 K)

Today, as usual , was not a simple straightforward walk but, why would we be surprised?

There seems to always be a little kink in the plan but we carry on regardless! We completed stage # 23 of 33 today which leaves 10 stages to go. We have covered just under 550 K with just under 250K to go. It looks as through we might actually finish the 790k!

We would like to be in Santiago on June 26. That might be difficult but we'll give it our best shot! We have been invited to a party in Santiago on the 26th and we'd really like to go.

Today was a day for meeting 'old' friends... friends we have not seen for a while and wondered if we would ever see them again. So here's the story.

We were down to our last 30€ and there was no bank or ATM in this town and while we were trying to figure out what to do we saw Chris, Hanna & Susan coming up the road looking no the worst for ware. Hugs & salutations followed & we were invited to celebrate Chris's B' day on the 18 th in Villafranca; it should be a good night & we will do whatever it takes to be there. They Moved on to the next village and we decided to taxi back to Astorga (our only real option) to get an ATM. Just as we were getting into our return taxi we "bumped" into Annette, Tamara & Sean; what a lovely coincidence.  Again lot of hugs & wishes to see each other again and who can really tell.

The Camino seems to be telling me to remember the special people we have been so lucky to have met so far. Needless to say a limerick or two will follow

We had a wonderful night with Connor, Rita, & Rowena in Burgos

We met Conor his sister & wife

From Dublin & just full of life

But the sister Rowena

Was just like Ribena

Nursed your health & lessened your strife

It would be so nice to repeat such a night

Then there was Lisa who was walking with husband Ted and Russell & Kathey. Lisa is a large animal Vet... hence the following (forgive me Lisa)

Said Lisa to the cow let's begin

I assure you this is not a sin

I'll do you no harm

As she " gloved up" her arm

And inserted it up to her chin

I think I'd better stop there before I get into more trouble. All my limericks are meant to be fun I hope no one takes umbrage.

  1. I love your limericks! And your pictures provide a great preview of what we'll see next year.
