From Domingo to Ortega we found
Small villages & towns do abound
The old folk hang on
But the young folk move on
Sometimes we'd neer hear a sound
Today was a challenging trip. 3 majn climbs in hot weather but we managed it... 25k.
The terrain has become predictable but none the less impressive.
We are staying at a monastery tonight & the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. I got impression when the guy (David) checking us in said 5€ each and now "go find your own bed". After the initial shock of discovering 70 beds in 3 rooms and very limited toilet facilities it turned out OK. We were in a Monastery so what should we expect??
The population of San Juan (according to the "book") is 30 so we were concerned about getting dinner. After a shower etc. We went out into the sunshine, got a couple of beers and suddenly the world seemed OK again. We had "almost" a party going with Conor, his wife Rita and sister Rowena (aka Ribena). They hail from Lucan. The beer and the jokes flowed and the Craic was 90. There's something about the Irish that seems to attract everyone. We had Americans, Germans, English, Scottish and some Aussies join our "group" and had so much fun until around 8 when our "reservation" was called..."Hey Molloy your table is ready" shouted across the square. It was pretty amazing to meet a friend of Fran's brother : Margo with Jimmy and another girl whose name I've forgotten. A guy from Colorado booked a room for us for June 4. Having wined & dined we hit the sack before 10 intending to get an early start next day.
