Day # 18 June 8

Day # 18 June 8 Frómista to Carrion de los Condos (20.5k)

Today we walked from Frómista

We survived in spite of a blista

We passed by more ass

The big guy ate  grass

The other, was his little sista

(See first picture below)

We took an alternative route today along the highway. While the terrain was flat the surface of loose stone was a little hard on the feet. We made good time & arrived at our albergue just after 1: OO pm. We had time to relax and shower; it was almost like a "rest" day. The Albergue is a monastery run by nuns & while the idea of staying in a Monastery is a little freaky the name Espiritu Sanctus awakens memories long forgotten. Frances wanted to see the church & when we went in mass was on. Nothing has changed... the drone of the priest, the standing up, the sitting down , the subservience, the power... I suddenly realized this is a pilgrimage when I saw that I recognized most of the congregation from the walking. We even saw Claudia who we have not seen since Burgos.
We had a lovely meal tonight opting not to go for the Pilgrim's meal. Overall this has been a good day and even though we have some blister problems to deal with, tomorrow we will have completed half of the Camino; a good excuse to celebrate. It is now coming up to 8:30 and we are enjoying a quiet beer & blogging.

Buenos Noches
