Day # 30 June 20 La Faba to Triacastela

Day # 30 June 20 La Faba to Triacastela via O'Cebreiro (26K)

If La Faba I had to rate

There's one to say, ah but wait

Whether Wolfgang or Peter

It's the amazing innkeeper

That makes this Albergue so great

We left La Faba at the crack of dawn expecting to have an easier day since Wolfgang, the Albergue volunteer had indicated that the "hard" part was over! He was wrong, very, very wrong. I will admit there were some flatter stretches but overall this was hard. It was gruelling. We did not complete the climb until after 9 am and I have to say Frances was truly amazing. The views along the way were fabulous, I just hope the photos capture the beauty.

We met someone near the top who took a photo of us with the mountains in the background. The town of O'Cebreiro is a major tourist spot with vendors selling all the usual "stuff" We had a lunch & took some photos before moving on. There was one more climb to alto do Poio before the decent. I had gone ahead of Frances and when I reached the top I heard cheers and saw Chris, Greg & the girls having lunch at Santa Maria do Poio. Frances arrived a short time later. I had a beer waiting for her. We stayed for a break and headed out fairly soon as Chris & Co. walk much faster than we do. The views during the climb and decent were incredible and & hope I managed to capture some of them below

There were several monuments honouring pilgrims, some were huge - there are pictures below, These were the hardest two days of the Camino since Roncesvalles but the sense of accomplishment is hard to describe exhilarating comes close.
