Day # 14 June 4 San Juan de Ortega to Burgos

In Burgos we stayed overnight

Our room was cheerful & bright

We'd love to stay longer

It might make us stronger

But our schedule is really quite tight

We were up at the crack of down today - 5 am and on the road soon after. Oh by the way the answer to the riddle (Day 8) is a tea bag( goes in dry; comes out wet & satisfies two... two cups of tea.) You can rest your bad minds now. We had breakfast in a town called Agés; it took no time at all! Walking along while the dawn was breaking with a gentle cool breeze blowing was amazing. As the light filtered in we heard a cuckoo; a rooster crowing in the distance and frogs croaking nearby. The sounds of morning... just wonderful. As if those sights & sounds were not enough I even saw a man with his banana sticking out of his shirt for all the world to see! Seriously his banana was sticking out right beside an orange in the same pocket!

Today's walk was very pleasant with only one climb, on top of which stood a huge cross. Not quite as big as the one on Bray Head but maybe. The early morning view was spectacular; mountains all around nestling tiny villages enveloped in a morning mist. With the climb behind us we were we were envigorated and made it to Burgos in great time. Many of the pilgrims were staying in our hostel and went to the same restaurant for supper. A great spirit of togetherness existed in the Restaurant & it was a really fun evening. We dined with Conor, Rita, and Rowena & had a fabulous time. We also met David and a few others there. Will we go or stay one more day??

We had a great night  tonight.
We're going!
