Day # 29 June 19 Villafranca to La Faba (25 K)
No WiFi in the mountains
Stage 26 has been on our mind for a long time. We have been led to believe this is a really tough stage; so tough we considered skipping it but instead we decided to break it into manageable pieces. The plan was to get to La Faba today and finish O'Cebreiro starting first thing tomorrow; cool temp & refreshed. Imagine our delight when we reached La Faba to be told we had completed the hard part and let me tell you; it was hard. Frances was amazing... those ascents are very, very steep. Her performance inspired this limerick;
The WAY, sometimes, makes me pale
Though there's only, success, you can't fail
But Frances today,
Just blew me away,
As she conquers the O'Cebreiro trail.
Although the walk today was tough, the views along the way were amazing.
We left Villafranca before dawn and without breakfast but knew the first town was fairly close. We reached Pereje quickly and had an excuse of a breakfast; hard toast, jam & coffee... grossly overpriced to boot.
As usual we took some photos as we left (note the time!!)
It was a great walk with lots to see. The ascent to La Faba was long, hard, and over rough terrain but where we are now (La Faba) is so relaxing and peaceful... no Wifi !!!

Tomorrow we will finish O' Cebreiro and celebrate having completed what we considered a daunting task.
