Day # 20 June 10

Day # 20 June 10 Ledigos to Calzada de Coto (20.5 k)

A little known fact but very important one; is how we navigate our way. The plain simple truth is the "Way" is very well marked using yellow arrows painted or engraved in rock. Sometimes there is a shell embedded on the sidewalk but mainly it's the arrow. That fact prompted the following:

Some trails are wide, some are narrow

Pass fields awaiting a harrow

As we walk side by side

Our perennial guide

Is that small but bright yellow arrow

We hit the trail this morning at around 7:30 without breakfast and made great progress for about 7k when we stopped for breakfast. It was a nice surprise to be able to get bacon & eggs instead of the usual coffee & toast and jam. We met a group of Peregrinos we recognized on the way. Chris from Dublin & Hanna from the USA; California I think. There was about 8 from a variety of countries... all in great form & full of energy. They took a selfie which we were part of. The rest of the trip was very pleasant and while we made several good stops we still made good time. Frances' feet are healing from some really bad blisters so she was able to walk fast today. At times I had difficulty keeping up!

We reached our destination... Calzada de Coto in time to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in a really quiet town. The Albergue caretaker.... Louis was a great guy and even though he spoke little English and me little Spanish we managed to have a few laughs. A lady from Quebec, Mona, joined us and the craic was 90!

We finished the evening with a very nice "Pilgrims " meal and time to write our blogs. Now that we have passed the halfway mark our enthusiasm has increased... we think we might actually finish this...! It is so relaxing sitting in this small Spanish Pub in a town with a population of 130... so quiet: this is what serenity must feel like... where is it I live?

Tomorrow will be a great day ... just ' cause
